Gland packing seals the moving shaft of a valve or pump against leakage of steam, hot water and process fluids. Each grade suits a different duty: PTFE for chemical service and clean media, aramid/Kevlar where the shaft is abrasive or the pressure high, and graphited grades for steam and hot water, where heat needs conducting away from the box. Matching the packing to the duty outlasts forcing one grade to cover everything. Asbestos graphite packing can be supplied on request.
