Styrofoam is mostly trapped air, which is what makes it both a poor conductor and an inexpensive insulator. Rigid sheets bring compressive strength and dimensional stability to flat roofs, floors, cold rooms and structural work. Flexible grades wrap curves, pipes and irregular shapes, and double as expansion joint filler and protective packaging.
