Millboard is a rigid compressed-fibre panel that insulates to 1100°C with good mechanical strength and resistance to thermal shock. Non-combustible and dimensionally stable, it is used for fire door cores, furnace and boiler linings and general heat containment. Asbestos is a restricted material in Kenya — supply, handling and disposal are subject to regulation, and it is sold on that basis. Calcium silicate and ceramic fibre board cover much of the same duty without asbestos.
